have to disagree with the average rating. We have driven by many time but finally stop. Really great surprise. Service was great. My wife had the chili relleno it was great. I had the chicken fried steak and it was better than very good.
We will eat there again -

This place sits alone on Hwy 70, seems like the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Quincy, stopped on our road trip to Bucks Lake. The cook made me my favorite omelette and it was good! Ham, fresh mushrooms and spinach, cheddar cheese with tasty pico de gallo, crispy home fries and pancakes on the side. Good coffee also and great service from Sara!

Wow! My breakfast was so delicious! I had the carne asada omelet, totally awesome possum !!!! The meat was lean and tender and the pico de gallo was fresh and flavorful. Good service decent price. I highly recommend the peach iced tea. Not too too sweet very good!

Since moving to a scenic location atop the "hill" between East and Main Quincy, CA, I think they have gotten better in some ways, but lower-quality in others. It is a lovely restaurant, with new interiors, comfy chairs, a nice widescreen t.v. by the bar, and brand new wooden high chairs. The staff is incredibly friendly. Because of our schedule, we had to get our food to-go. We ordered a beef taco, which was amazing, as the taco shell was handmade and deep fried. It tasted amazing and my child loved it.
The massive chicken burrito was good, but not as good as it could of been. The wrap was a bit gluey, and filled with shredded chicken, rice, and beans that were nice. Had the lettuce and tomato on the side, and they were fresh. It was better the next day and day after as a leftover snack.
Now their frisco melt was sad. The burger was about 1/4 the size of the bread used. It was good, but the sourdough bread was really really chewy and overcooked. As if it had been grilled slowly with too much butter. It was greasy. The onions on the melt were chewy and not properly cooked, so we had to take them off. The sliced pickles on the side were kosher dill and heaven, but I'd have loved more than 4 of them.
All in all it was a good experience, mostly based on the fact that the staff were very sweet and kind, and helpful. The chef was spending too much time chilling with the bar-goers, and later a server was sitting at the bar facebooking with lunch. Since it was after lunch-time, that was fine, but during dinner when there is a crowd, it would better if staff didn't take breaks right by the front door. BUT they were very sweet. I'd have been thrilled if the burrito had been a bit better, and the burger bigger than the palm of my small girl-hand LOL. Nice effort all-in-all. Some improvements could be made. Dine-in dinner is probably really amazing there. I'd recommend that for anyone who is curious to try out Express. :) -

I know it is "just a coffee shop" but I can only say the huevos ranchera were among the best I've ever had. Fresh, obviously homemade red and green sauces!! What a great start to the day. And the waitress with the long black pony tail was excellent, and a delightful human being. Thanks for a nice memory of our travels to Quincy, CA.
